We enhance the vitality of municipalities and the operating environment of companies in the Koillismaa region in northeast Finland. Following the strategies of Kuusamo town and Taivalkoski municipality, we plan and implement measures in accordance with the needs of the economic life. We produce information to support decision-making, and work actively to increase cooperation. We network regionally, nationally, and internationally with educational and development organizations, research institutes, and universities. We use various funding sources to create development projects that often serve as valuable tools for the realization of goals.

Through Naturpolis, actors located in Koillismaa may apply funding for their local development needs from the regional development fund.

Regional development fund

The regional development fund supports the implementation of joint projects by municipalities in the Kuusamo region. The development working group, which is responsible for decision-making and administration of the regional development fund, consists of the persons nominated by the owner municipalities and the business community.

The development working group coordinates regional development projects and the municipal financing cooperative fund for each project.

Theses and interships

We encourage students interested in thesis or internships located in Kuusamo or Taivalkoski to contact us. We can help in finding a suitable topic for an exercise or thesis and, for example, the necessary cooperation companies.

Our projects also often have the opportunity to utilize the skills of students, so it’s worth getting in touch if there is a project on our project list that interests you.
